God is Great

Spencer Moreau

Scripture: Read Psalm 145

Sometimes we have so much trouble trusting God. When something impossible stands before us, we just don’t see it ending way we envisioned it. But our God is a great God. In verse 3 of this Psalm, David writes “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.” David is saying here that God is so much bigger than we can even begin to understand. He created space, seen and unseen by us, along with every single star, planet, and galaxy. He also constructed every tree with one word and painted every beautiful flower and blade of grass with just His voice. He formed the tiny details of our body, every bone, muscle, and cell working in its place. He knows the number of hairs on our head and calls each of us by name. Our God is a huge, mighty, and powerful God. And when you begin to grasp that, our problem and difficulties we face seem easy. In our little minds, we can’t begin to understand how incredible our God is. And I don’t know about you, but that truth gives me the confidence to put my trust in Him in every single aspect of my life.

Prayer
Father, you are a great and powerful God. I can’t even begin to understand how great You are.

I ask that in any situation where I become frustrated and worried, and I’m not in control, that You would remind me of how you have it under control. I trust you with every aspect of my life today.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

A Greater Reality

Lori Redd

Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."

Christians are often accused of having blind faith: believing in God no matter what, without weighing the evidence for doing so.  Agnostics and atheists maintain that belief in God is foolish because it cannot be proven through the scientific process.  God cannot be seen, heard, touched, smelled, or tasted...so "he" must not exist.  Do the doubters and naysayers have a point?  Do we believe just because that's what we are "supposed" to do?

The reality is doubt and skepticism about Jesus is nothing new. Even when He walked the earth, many claimed that Jesus was a fraud, a liar, an imposter. The only major hurdle they had in disproving Jesus' credibility was the miracles He performed. How could an average person heal the blind, raise the dead, and feed thousands with a sack lunch?  Their objections were silenced by the countless lives that were transformed by the Gospel.  The skeptics demanded proof of Jesus' claims about Himself, but Jesus' followers had all the proof they needed--changed hearts and lives.

Man is determined to operate by his own set of rules. Trying to fit God into a man-sized box will never work. If God could fit in such a box, would He then not cease to be God?  While man is intent on applying human logic to spiritual matters, God operates in a greater reality (see Isaiah 55:8-9).  How do we understand this reality?  How can we access it?  The answer is simple.  By faith. There are some things that just cannot be explained, some things that will never make sense to those who do not have faith.  But to those who know Christ and have experienced the life-changing power of the Gospel, we do not have to explain it.  Our lives are the proof of his existence.  It's not that we ignore the reality of this world, but rather we just live by faith in a greater reality for the world to come.

God's Dream For You

Karl Tingle

When you sit and dream about the future, what do you think of? Most of the time what we think of is the best. We contemplate the brightest scenario with our lives and our surroundings. It has been said that you can only go as far as your vision can take you. Today, I want you to think about God’s vision for your life. Have you ever thought; what would God dream about concerning you and me? The great thing about God’s Word is that we do not have to guess. It is printed in black and white. In Acts 2 God says, “ ‘In the last days, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out my Spirit upon all my servants, men and women alike, and they will prophesy.” (Act 2:17-18) Wow! God’s dream for you and your children and grandchildren is to dream dreams, see visions. He sees a future that is filled with His Spirit abiding in us. I pray that your week will be filled with God’s Spirit and power.

Party Planner

Amber Brewer

We serve a sovereign, powerful, all knowing, mighty God. When we walk hand in hand with Him we can do all things because He is the Ultimate Creator. Our God is a giver and He desires our dependence on Him. He wants to plan our party, but we have to remember to invite Him.

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.  1 Chronicles 29:11

Heavenly Father,
You are in control. All things are possible because of You. “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? “If God is for us, who can ever be against us?”  Romans 8:31

Camping Out or Crossing Over

Hadley Baker

Read Joshua 3:1-4

“All the Israelites went to the Jordan, where they camped before crossing over…”

For more than 400 years the children of Israel were slaves in Egypt. God used Moses to deliver them from captivity, promising to take them to a “good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey (Exodus 3:8).” Upon their exodus from Egypt, the Israelites would spend 40 years in the desert. One generation died off and another rose up. Joshua became the new Moses, leading this covenant people to their promised land.

When we enter the story in the third chapter of Joshua the nation of Israel is camping beside the Jordan River. Their promised land is on the other side. They have a choice to make—camp out or cross over? Stick with what’s familiar or journey into the unknown? Play it safe or step out in faith?

In our spiritual journey we will have those “Jordan River” moments. God will bring us to the edge of big things. We have a choice to make—camp out or cross over? Do we desire business as usual or something we have never seen before? Seeing God do big things requires us doing big things. So what is God calling you to do?

Reinforced Concrete

Amber Brewer

What if a parking spot were a soul sitting and waiting to be filled with the Holy Spirit? What if a playground brought joy to a child engulfed in turmoil?  On a mission trip to Zambia, Africa I witnessed a little girl experiencing a swing for the very first time. Her face illuminated pure joy! She had never felt such freedom, pleasure and comfort. As I watched her swing higher and higher I couldn’t help but think, “The higher the swing, the closer to Heaven.” Sometimes it is the simple things that build God’s Kingdom. When concrete is built on faith and with the Lord it can do so much more than provide a parking spot.

For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them. Matthew 18:20.

Heavenly Father,
All that we have is Yours and all that we do is for You. We ask You to breathe life and purpose into this project. We ask You to fill each parking spot week after week with people who have come to hear the gospel. We ask You to wrap Your tender arms around children as they experience joy through the playground.

Faith Got Us Here

Sonja Ralston

During our last Building Program, a Casa View couple gave a thousand dollars to jump start the Fund Raising Campaign. I started thinking, “God, I want to do that too!” I didn’t exactly have a thousand unattached dollars, but God was listening. Completely un-expected, I received a check in the mail for over-paid property taxes for three hundred plus dollars, the following week I received another check in the mail for over-paid school taxes for three hundred plus dollars, now my goal was attainable. If God was willing to provide 2/3 of the amount I could surely budget my spending and come up with the remaining 1/3. Remember, these taxes were paid initially by my mortgage company but I was receiving the refund. Coincidence you say, where God is concerned I don’t believe in coincidences. “You can’t out give God,” the more I give the more I receive, I find myself double checking the calculator, I write out checks and still have funds left over more than I should. Our God is so amazing, His plan is greater in “all ways” than our own, and we simply have to Trust Him and follow Him by Faith. Faith got us here!

Malachi 3:10-11
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,”says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe, says the Lord Almighty.”
